Coffee Shop Design - Gunnersbury, Ealing

Brief - To create a contemporary welcoming space for the Easy Eats new site in Gunnersbury. The clients are a brother and sister partnership focusing on quality food with locally sourced ingredients. They wanted the coffee shop to follow their brand aesthetic with clean lines, minimal fuss and contemporary features. The branding was done by talented local graphic designer Sara at Karma Creative and takes centre stage of the interiors with a bold and striking mural and colourful prints.

Previously a neglected kebab shop, with harsh lighting and stark white interiors, the Easy Eats team wanted to bring warmth into the space which was done by adding a warm wood LVT floor.

The clean interior aesthetics were mirrored externally with the same wood finish, clean white lettering and green awning to reflect the organic and fresh food on offer.

Warm and texture was brought in using raw wood slats for the front counter and a clean white worktop to complete the look. It was important to create an inviting feel as customers first walked into the coffee shop. The counter placement at the back, meant easy access to the kitchen as well as the perfect position to welcome customers in.

The previous harsh downlights were replaced with fewer lights teamed with ambient lighting through hanging pendants. When it comes to lighting sometimes less is more to get the perfect warm atmosphere without a clinical feel!

The mural designed by Karma Creative reflects the community Easy Eats aims to serve, with homage to the local school and hospital as well as showcasing all the delicious food and drinks on offer! It takes pride of place at the front of the cafe. Easy Eats are community focused and sustainable in so many ways. They reused and repurposed design features where possible. The food is locally sourced and made in the vast kitchen at the back of the cafe, which also serves the business’ huge delivery demand. Staff are local with the owners living in the Borough and suppliers such as Interior design and Graphic Design were also sourced locally!
